Thursday 2 April 1998
I was at home with a sore throat and a bad cough.
A major front was approaching, so I was able to "sneak"
these photos without too much effort.
I didn't feel sick by the time I got to the tenth shot in one day!
Cirrus
Cirro stratus Table Mountain with faint halo around sun
Cirro stratus with dark rays over Table Mountain
Cirrus and cirro cumulus chaos above Table Mountain
Cirrus and cirro stratus over Constantiaberg
After a day like that, one might be excused for
taking two headache tablets, and going to bed early.
But lo and behold, sunset beckoned!
Saturday 4 April 1998
Just to prove that Thursday was not a fluke, Saturday dawned
with a howling North Wester wind, and spectacular wave clouds.
Of course it rained buckets a few hours later!
Wind sheared cloud layers over Tygerberg Hills
North Wester cloud over Table Mountain with cirro stratus
North Wester cloud and lenticular cloud over Constantiaberg
Spectacular lenticular cloud over Constantiaberg
I am at a loss for words to describe this one :)
Layered lenticular clouds
These are about 7km from the nearest mountains
Sunset on cirrus obscured by wall cloud
This gap in the clouds was about 7km downwind from Table Mountain
